August 9 - One of the online poker industry's longest running series, the
Full Tilt Online Poker Series entered into its ninth season this week and
players are getting into the action of things as they contemplate the 25
pro-hosted poker events on offer.
The FTOPS is traditionally one of the most generous tournaments in the
industry, with a good proportion of the events offering $1 million guaranteed
prize pools. The new series looks to be no different, with no less than six of
the events offering $1 or better as prize money for lucky winners.
The first $1 million event was also held yesterday when a $200 + $16 No Limit
Texas Hold 'em tournament , hosted by poker great, Allen Cunningham kicked off
FTOPS IX.
Other $1 million plus events due to take place during the tournament include
a $1000 + $60 No Limit Texas Hold 'em with a $1.5 million guaranteed prize pool,
hosted by Eli Elezra (August 11) and a $2500 + $120 two day No Limit Hold 'em
event with a $2 million guarantee, hosted by Patrik Antonius (August 16).
The FTOPS will wrap up with an unprecedented $500 + $35 No Limit Hold 'em
Main Event with a $2.5 million guarantee. The main event will be hosted by Chris
"Jesus" Ferguson on August 17th.
FTOPS generally attracts a far greater number of players than expected,
boosting guarantees significantly. The main event of the last series came with a
$2 million guarantee prize pool although that was increased up to over
$2,300,000 thanks to the 4,750 players who entered this event.
Others professional hosts in the FTOPS include Erik Seidel, Cyndy Violette,
Andy Bloch, Scott Clements, Erick Lindgren, etc.
