Full Tilt Poker Results Defy Luck As DuckU Wins Again
Author: Marc Weinberg
April 23 - The great debate in online poker between luck and skill is over, settled by one player whose achievements over the past week have been so improbable that the only satistfactory explanation is ability rather than random chance. I speak of "DuckU", the online poker sensation who won the Full Tilt $750k guaranteed tournament on Sunday, April 15 and followed that up by winning yesterday's guaranteed tournament ($400k) as well!
Last night's tournament attracted over 2300 players, so for DuckU to navigate past that many opponents in back-to-back major online poker events and end up at the final table both times would be a big enough story.
There was a similar occurrence a few weeks ago in online poker tournament play when one player simultaneously got to the final tables at Stars and Full Tilt on a guaranteed Sunday.
But not only did DuckU make the final tables, he then went on to win both tournaments. It's an incredible achievement, one that requires a lot of luck (obviously, as it would in any format of a poker tournament of this size) but speaks more to the skill of the player in question.
The two wins netted DuckU over $230,000, and the respect of the entire online poker community. It's unprecedented really and one can only wonder if we'll hear from this player in a major land-based tournament. It would seem to be on the cards based on this level of form.
