German Comes out of Avalanche Alive and Victorious
|
November 5 - German poker player, Frank Stumpf, came out tops to win the
lucrative Everest Poker Avalanche live poker tournament - and $233 000 in prize
money - which was hosted aboard a luxury liner cruising around the picturesque
Mediterranean.
Stumpf showed his poker prowess by winning a seat to the coveted 'floating poker
tournament' at Everest Poker, one of the 'highest' rated online poker rooms
currently operating on the Internet, which attracts online poker fans from all
over the globe.
Months of hype and online poker qualifiers and satellites saw 10 talented
Everest Poker players winning themselves generous prize packages, which included
the seat at the Everest Poker Avalanche, luxurious accommodation on the ship and
an experience of a lifetime.
Once the action finally got underway at the Avalanche, Stumpf took some time to find his feet as
his stack kept on getting smaller, until he managed to grit his teeth and fight
his way back, dispatching many of the other finalists along the way.
When it came to the final heads up, Stumpf found himself facing fellow German,
Matthias Lotze, for the honor of the 2007 Everest Poker Avalanche champion as
well as lucrative prize money and, after a great display of poker skill, won the
final hand.
Said Everest Poker spokesperson, Jonathan May, 'We are extremely pleased with
the way the tournament turned out as well as the interest it generated amongst
our players at Everest Poker, proving just how popular land poker tournaments
are amongst Internet poker players.'
With Everest Poker Avalanche safely berthed, the online poker room is now
preparing to find another ten talented players willing to compete for the
opportunity to become a professional poker player for a year.
