Gus Hansen Wins The 2007 Aussie Millions

January 19 - The first major on the professional poker tour mirrors the world of tennis as the stars headed down under for the 2007 Aussie Millions. In the end, Gus Hansen, the hyper-aggressive Dane was too strong for an online poker qualifier from Poker Stars, Jimmy Fricke.
In his defense Jimmy "Gobboboy" Fricke played phenomenal poker and looked the likely winner headed into the last three as he looked to stave off Hansen and Andrew Black, everyone's favorite poker playing Buddhist.
Fricke is a mere 19-years old although hardly a whisp of a lad. Pound for pound he could Sumo wrestle Greg Raymer quite comfortably, and he showed a similar level of poker acumen as well.
Gobboboy is a deadly online poker player with some very big wins under his belt already. The Internet was created for such players, who still are not old enough to set foot in the WSOP because they aren't 21 yet!
Fricke got rid of Andy Black and enjoyed a 3:1 chip lead over Hansen, but that sort of position is meat and potatoes for Gus because it enables him to loosen up his game still further, to a well nigh liquid state.
He doubled through Fricke with a weak Ace holding up as top pair and from then on it was all downhill for the youngster. The final hand saw Fricke with an open-ended straight draw as well as a flush draw but the river was no help and Hansen won the big prize.
Love him or hate him, Gus Hansen has some incredible tournament results to his credit. His style enables him to either go home early or accumulate a ton of chips with which he terrorizes his table. Good for him, and congrats from all of us at the Insider.
