Intralot Eyes Italian Poker Market
|
 April 8 - In an impressive deal signed between two industry giants this week, Party Gaming and the Greek gaming company Intralot, will see the latter enter the online Italian poker tournament market.
Intralot, the Athens based group, is one of the world's biggest suppliers of gaming and lottery services, with its brands found in over fifty countries around the world, many times working closely with governments and high ranking authorities.
Intralot has already forged itself a place in the fast growing Italian poker market, which has online poker sales totaling 1.5 billion Euros in the past year alone.
The Greek company runs over 600 retail betting shops around Italy, which will play a major role in the marketing of the new poker tournament site. Intralot, through its subsidiary, Intralot Italia, also runs horse racing and betting services in the country, making it a household name among gamblers.
Intralot recently signed a deal with Party Gaming to join its new Italian language online poker network, a platform that has attracted several other groups since then. The deal was signed for five years, with an option to extend if need be.
The Chief Executive Officer of Party Gaming, Jim Ryan said in a statement: "Our agreement with Intralot represents another significant step for us as we aim to create a strong business to business operation.
In response, the Chief Executive Officer of Intralot, Constantinos Antonopoulos said: "We are confident that our first cooperation in Italy will set the basis of a fruitful partnership in various markets globally and will enhance Intralot's own online gaming solutions and services."
Party Gaming, the Gibraltar based online software provider, is quoted on the London Stock Exchange and saw its shares rise after news of the new B2B deal was made public.
