iPoker Moves Past Party Poker - 01-29-08
|
Author: Marc Weinberg
January 29 - Two years ago there were not a lot of people who wanted to play online poker at the iPoker network, although the Playtech software was fun to use and certainly novel. Sites like Fair Poker and Titan had some action mainly from casino crossover traffic but they were not in the same zip code as the Party Poker behemoth.
Times have changed since the UIGEA debacle. Party Poker ran from the US market as did the iPoker Network since both rooms were part of larger publicly traded entities. Both made big plans to target players in Europe and the Far East. Only one is really delivering on that gameplan, however, as the statistics reveal.
iPoker can now boast higher average cash game player numbers over a rolling seven day period, and to anyone in the industry this is startling news. The numbers are 9827 real money cash game players for iPoker vs. Party Poker's 9365 players.
The bad news for Party Gaming stockholders is that Ongame is right behind them and growing faster, so we could soon see PartyPoker reduced to fifth banana.
The top poker rooms are the ones that stayed put in the US market and decided to flout the law. Good for them, they deserve to reap the financial rewards even if it does mean the owners have to live in a huddled mass on the Isle Of Man. Those sites: Poker Stars, way out in front, and Full Tilt next best.
Titan poker, one of the big iPoker brands is hosting a massive tournament soon. For more information on this $2 million online poker tournament, visit
