Jamie Gold - Potential Poker Legend
|
Two weeks ago no one outside of Commerce knew much about Jamie Gold as a top poker player. He was a well known Hollywood agent and TV producer, but until this incredible performance at the 2006 WSOP, where he has a huge lead at the final table, no one knew he was this talented at poker.
Jamie Gold took the 2006 Main Event by the scruff of the neck early on and he has never let go. Now, with only nine players remaining Gold has an incredible opportunity to win the most coveted bracelet in the world. It's great news for Bodog Poker, since they sponsored him for the tournament.
Team Bodog has enjoyed an excellent run at the WSOP this year as they also sponsored Leif Force who finished in eleventh position cashing for $1,154,527.
Jamie Gold has played seriously for the last two years, but acknowledged that he struggled in the high-stakes cash games that he plays in at Commerce in California.
Gold was influenced by Johnny Chan, after doing some work with Chan to develop a new poker television show. Chan gave him a few hints, and following that Jamie began to focus on no-limit Hold'em at the highest level.
His biggest danger at the final table has to be Allen Cunningham, but whatever happens from here on in Jamie Gold has arrived on the poker scene.
