KGC Urges Poker Players to Report any Problems
|
December 25 - As the poker industry learns of another incident involving Ultimate Bet Poker, the Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC) has stepped in and commented about the alleged software glitch.
Earlier this week, it was believed that the glitch that saw a winner with a losing hand being rewarded the prize pot, was a one off incident. However, recent postings on poker forums show that this may not be the case and that over the last few weeks, several players have experienced strange incidents at Ultimate Bet.
The poker room is only just recovering from bad publicity from this year's cheating debacle and a CBS 60 Minutes report that did not paint the site, nor its sister site Absolute Poker, in a particular rosy light. Ultimate Bet recently re-launched on the Cereus Poker Network, run by Tokwiro Enterprises, which may explain why its software is still experiencing glitches.
The Kahnawake Gaming Commission, careful to handle this issue better than it did the cheating scandals earlier this year, immediately reacted to the new reports and promised to launch a full investigation into the matter.
The KGC said that players should not simply post their complaints on poker forums, as has been happening in recent days. Instead, the group urged, players should make genuine and substantiated claims directly to the KGC.
"What does slow things down is when forum posters randomly send disparaging comments to the KGC about an operator, but don't substantiate any claim or provide any intel which could be of use in opening an investigative file. If there are legitimate claims, I would encourage any potentially wronged players to contact the KGC," said the group.
