April 28 - Jonathan Kalmar, the 34 year old professional poker player who
hails from the United Kingdom, recently signed a sponsorship deal with the
popular Ladbrokes Poker. According to the terms of the deal, Kalmar will
represent Ladbrokes at live tournaments, as well as contribute to the company's
online poker site through blogs and tournament reports.
Kalmar, who goes under the name 'skalie' online, was understandably delighted
with the sponsorship deal. "I'm thrilled!" he said. "I can't wait to take up my
role of Ladbrokes Poker pro in an official capacity. I'm raring to go. As part
of Team Ladbrokes in 2006, I came 82nd in the Main Event and finished in fifth
last year. Let's hope I continue to improve upon my performance."
With more than $1.6 million in tournament wins under his belt, including
successful stints at the World Series of Poker tournament, as well as the
European Poker Tour, Kalmar is quite a force to be reckoned with in the world of
professional poker.
Kalmar, who, as mentioned, has been connected with Ladbrokes Poker for
several years now, will lead the company's 110 strong Ladbrokes Poker Team into
the World Series of Poker Main Event this coming summer.
Edward Ihre, the MD of Ladbrokes Poker said, "The signing is a formality
really, Ladbrokespoker.com already considers skalie a member of the team and
Laddie has been skalie's home online for the past few years. It was only a
matter of time before he joined our poker pro stable. Skalie's multi table
expertise in tournaments will be a great asset to our team."
