November 19 - As the online poker world watches in fascination as some of the
hottest action to take place in the industry unfolds before their eyes at a
dizzying pace, the latest news is that the largest ever online pot has been won.
A new mystery player to enter the high stakes online poker circuit at Full
Tilt has had the industry speculating over his true identity, while at the same
time watching as he practically wipes out player after player.
The player, known only as Isildur1 from Sweden, took down big pros such as
Tom "durrr" Dwan over the weekend, and even managed to make a sizeable dent in
Patrik Antonius' account.
However, Antonius, ever the cool Fin, decided to win his money back
and on Monday night entered a marathon session with Isildur1.
Before the night was over, Antonius had broken two industry records - one for
grabbing the biggest pot limit
Omaha pot and the second for winning the largest
pot overall.
Antonius bagged an eye popping $878,959 after a $500-$1000 session of heads
up pot limit Omaha, shattering records previously held by Di "Urindanger" Dang
and Tom Dwan.
While Isildur1 managed to pocket $6 million over the last 20 days playing top
professionals, his session against Antonius set him back a significant $2.7
million in one night.
It remains to be seen whether Isildur1 will continue on his mission to play
as many top names as he can find who are willing to play against him, or whether
he will take some time to lick his wounds sustained during the session against
the unforgiving Antonius and come back when he's right and ready.
What is sure is that when Isildur1 hits the tables again, Antonius will be
quietly waiting on the side to take up any challenge once more.
