Long Time Poker Pro Wins Latest WSOPC Event
|
The World Series Of Poker Circuit moved to Caesars Palace for the first time last week. The famous Las Vegas casino that has been a longtime fixture of the Strip reopened their poker room after an absence of fifteen years. The final table of this WSOPC event was dominated by old pros, and John Spadavecchia ultimately took down the first prize of $648,000.
Spadavecchia was probably one of the very few players in the large field of 209 who could remember what it was like to play poker at Caesars in the good old days before they dropped poker as a loss-leader. But before you think that poker is a game dominated by dudes in their early twenties take a look at this final table of seasoned poker veterans:
Blair Rodman, co-author of the wonderfully titled poker book 'Kill Phil', continued his excellent recent tournament form by making it to the final nine, and also in the mix was Billy Baxter who has been around since Scott Fischman's crew were in diapers. Ralph Perry, another Vegas-based poker pro who has been around for years, finished 3rd in this event.
No one , however, could stay with John Spadavecchia, who claims to have always been lucky at Caesars Palace. Pity for him that they aren't holding the actual
World Series Of Poker there. Will his luck hold when he has to cab it down to the Rio? Only time will tell.
