July 6 - Software giant, Microgaming has decided to update its poker offering with some interesting new changes to its Poker Network. Some of the changes affect the currency used during tournaments as well as the introduction of new competitions into the already exciting tournament schedule.
Microgaming Poker has introduced Survivor Tournaments to complement its two daily tournaments - Breakfast Bounty and Bedtime Bounty that were introduced this month.
The Survivor Tournaments call for players to fight each other out to the end, with the clock playing a very important part in the competition. The players with the lowest stacks of chips are eliminated after every level of the tournament.
In the Breakfast and Bedtime Bounty tournaments, half of the buy in fee is automatically paid in to the prize pool and the other half acts as a bounty on the player's head. In this way, players are assured of a prize for eliminating their opponents, even if the pot is not their's for the taking.
"The Microgaming Poker Network is proud of this new and unique tournament offering which is designed to provide the most entertaining network poker competitions available," said Mark Pinaan of Microgaming's Poker Network Channel Lead. "We predict that July is going to be a big month for tournament poker."
Another interesting change made by Microgaming Poker is the introduction of Euros as the main currency in network guaranteed tournaments, as well as satellites, freerolls and other types of competitions. This move away from US Dollars to the adoption of Euros signifies Microgaming's growing focus on the European poker market.
