Mike Matusow - Poker Legend

Mike "The Mouth" Matusow, the obnoxious poker pro, is finally living up to his own hype as one of the best no-limit poker players in the world. Matusow has loudly proclaimed that he is one of the five best no-limit players in the game today, and at the 2005 World Series Of Poker Main Event he has certainly put his money where his mouth is, so to speak.
At the time of writing this profile, at the end of Day 6 with only 27 players left standing from an original number of 5660, Matusow is leading the event. A former dealer, of cards mainly, Matsuow quickly realized that he could beat the people who were playing. A similar story to Layne Flack, although Matusow lacks Flack's analytical sharpness. Instead Mike "The Mouth" favors the Phil Hellmuth approach of verbal battery and blunt psychological warfare.
Matusow has been heard to say that he is an idiot at everything except poker. His boorish antics, complete lack of sportsmanship, and general lack of charisma have done nothing to disprove this notion. It would be better for poker if he didn't win the biggest event in the history of the game, but he does have the ability to do just that.
Mike Matusow has won two World Series of Poker bracelets in the past, and is widely considered to be one of the best Omaha players in the world. He also made it to the final table of a World Poker Tour event in Aruba and picked up a cool $250,000 for a third-place finish. If he wins the Championship in 2005 the rest of the world will never hear the end of it, and if he finishes anywhere lower than first the world will still never hear the end of it.
