Moneymaker Millionaire Tourney Won by Ballet Dancer
January 8 - In life they say never judge a book by its cover and the same can be
said for the game of poker, after the PokerStars.com Moneymaker Millionaire
tournament final hosted at the picturesque Atlantis Resort and Casino in the Bahamas last weekend
was won by a former ballet dancer.
Quillan Nagel, a 30-year-old Canadian former ballet dancer and grad student
beat out 26 other players to walk away with the PokerStars.com Moneymaker
Millionaire title and $1 million in cash and prizes.
The PokerStars.com Moneymaker Millionaire story began months earlier when the
leading online poker room started running freeroll satellites and tournaments
with the objective of finding the 27 best and most consistent poker players.
With an overwhelming response -
PokerStars.com recorded a staggering 800 000
players - 27 players rose to the challenge and were finally hosted in the beautiful
surroundings of the Bahamas to battle it out for the PokerStars.com Moneymaker
Millionaire title.
After 16 hours of poker, only Nagel and a native of Florida, Jerry Watterson, remained and the two warriors went head to head. Finally, however, Nagel dispatched Watterson to claim victory as well as the $850 000 in prize money and $150 000 limited
edition Aston Martin DB9.
When interviewed after his victory, the speechless Nagel burst into dance and
performed a triple pirouette. Just kidding!
