Mugger Walks Off With Aussie Millions Cash - 01-22-08

January 22 - The 2008 Aussie Millions was won by some dude you've never heard of and will probably never hear of again - he just turned 21, comes from Moscow, and made off with $1,650,000. That's not news though these days in poker. What is news is the story of what happened to the guy who finished 31st in the event.
His name is Jason Potter, he's all of 22, and described rather charitably in The Australian as a "heavily built professional from Oklahoma". Well, when it's 4:30 am and you're a heavy dude from America where do you wind up? McDonalds for a late night snack attack of course. And naturally you've still got your $30k in winnings on your person nestled cosily between your bulk and your hoodie.
Someone was clearly watching Jason from the time he went to the cashier's window at the Aussie Millions and collected his winnings. The same guy ran up to him from behind whacked him on the head and made off with the loot.
Potter said that in retrospect he wishes he'd asked for a check instead of cash.
