April 15 - A growing trend in the online poker world is for companies to hire
the services of professional players to act as their ambassadors and represent
them at tournaments and events. When that professional also turns out to be a
model, the results can be quite electrifying.
Purple Lounge, operators of several online casinos and poker rooms,
has signed on British model and professional poker player, Michelle Orpe
for her to become the 'Face of Purple Lounge'. Under the new agreement, Purple
Lounge will sponsor Orpe's appearances and entry into some of the most lucrative
poker tournaments in the industry.
Michelle Orpe tried her hand at a number of different jobs, including as the
member of a pop band, before her poker talents were recognized and she was
trained for nearly three years with Poker News under the tutorage of seven
different poker professionals. Orpe has participated in a European Poker Tour
and has worked as a commentator on Poker Night Live.
In recent months, Purple Lounge has recognized the incredible potential in
the women's poker industry and regularly runs ladies-only events on its sites.
Sponsoring Michelle Orpe seemed a natural extension of this trend.
Julia Wild, Marketing Director for Purple Lounge said: "From our launch just
two years ago, Purple Lounge has always been a home to a large community of
women players and it's something we're extremely proud of. It's natural that we
sponsor a female player and we're expecting great things from Michelle Orpe,
she's a true professional and we're very lucky to have lured her to Purple
Lounge."
