No One Gets Shot Playing Online Poker...
|
A poker player was shot and killed in Trinidad by robbers who stormed into a bar that was hosting a private poker game. Another compelling reason to play poker online where even if you're cheated out of your money you still get to live. Let's take a closer look at this story:
Juliet Montrose, described as a "good poker player", was at the Sunset Bar playing cards when three bandits entered the bar. One of them had a gun and was supposed to keep watch while the other two grabbed the cash.
But as fate would have it seconds after partons were confronted by the three robbers Montrose's phone rang and she answered it! The armed bandit (how can one resist?) panicked and shot her through the head.
So, basically what happened is they ran in announced that this was a hold-up and then Montrose got a phone call, which she answered. A good poker player? Possibly. A candidate for a Darwin award? Definitely.
The story gets even funnier / sadder depending on how dark you like your humor. Personally we like it like our coffee, dark, but it also has to have a little bit of sugar because otherwise it leaves that acrid taste in your mouth, and that's also no good.
Montrose was still alive after she was shot in the head. The rest is taken from the news report regarding the case: "Montrose was taken to a local hospital but died in the car because no one was around to help lift her from the vehicle."
The moral of the story? We're spoiled for choice with this one, but here's a short-list:
1. Stick to playing poker online at fine online poker rooms like Hollywood Poker where the worst thing that can happen to you is that you learn your online opponent who just beat you is really Vince Van Patten. No one is going to crash your high-stakes poker game and shoot you so long as you're playing online.
2. Try not to answer your cell phone while you're being held up and robbed. That would be a good time to let voicemail swing into action.
3. Trinidad's concept of an Emergency Room might not be the same as yours or mine. It is a good place to listen to the latest reggae sounds while smoking some powerful herb on an unspoiled beach. It is a bad place to seek treatment for a gunshot wound to the head.
