Online Poker Cheats Exposed By Poker Stars
|
Author: Marc
February 13 - This is a column about exceptional customer service and a pleasant surprise for the author delivered by Poker Stars. It starts with cheating at online poker, a problem that is a lot more pervasive than most of us probably think, for even I have apparently been a victim.
Now I know that many of you turn to this column for guidance, taking my grizzly hand of experience as I lead you through the convoluted pathways of online poker. Surely you would then be shocked to learn, and not a little dismayed that I have been duped by nefarious online poker cheats!
I was quite unwitting because until Poker Stars contacted me about this earlier today I still had no idea that I had been the victim of cheats. Clueless, indeed.
In my defense when you play a lot of online poker you see many many plays that are indefensible. Logic cannot be applied to these decisions, which means that the player either did it because he/she is a) an idiot, b) colluding in some diabolical way with someone else at the table.
It would seem clear that option a is the more frequent answer, but do not fool yourself, option b lurks out there as well, and it would be foolish to assume otherwise.
So, Poker Stars emailed me today saying that they had become aware of players who were working together in Sit & Go
tournaments (my very bread & butter!) to the detriment of other players. I was involved in at least one of these tournaments with these players and as a result may have been adversely affected.
Here comes the cool part: The colluders have been stripped of their winnings and the account balances redistributed to the players who were stung. This was done in as fair a way as possible, and I certainly have no complaints.
Poker Stars put more than $170 in my account as a credit, although they will not divulge which tournaments were affected or the names of those dastardly cheats, but that's ok with me.
It's nice to know that there are online poker sites out there that take the matter of security seriously, and that deliver on customer service and protection. Good for you Poker Stars! Now if I could just find a way to withdraw money from these sites...
