Online Poker Player Wins $1 Million From A Freeroll
|
The first online poker millionaire is Lee Biddulph, a chef from England, who beat out eight other amateurs at the final table to win Paradise Poker's Million Dollar Freeroll Tournament. The event was free to enter and nearly 4,000 online poker players participated.
The nine finalists were all awarded a weekend trip to Costa Rica courtesy of Paradise Poker, with all expenses paid and a five-star resort awaiting them. They also received $10,000 in cash for their efforts. Eight of the nine were from the United States, but ultimately it was a Brit from Blackpool, Biddulph, who won a cool million dollars.
The final hand saw Biddulph up against Mike Darweesh, and Biddulph's 10-high diamond flush held up against Darweesh's 9-high diamond flush after the board brought four diamonds. This is the largest cash prize ever awarded for an online poker tournament, and judging by the enormous success of this one we expect to see more of the same in the world of online poker very soon.
