April 16 - In recent years, with competition growing stiff among gambling
companies in the market, online poker advertising has taken on a whole
new dimension. But while some companies are content to stick to the local media
for their promotions (if legislation allows it), others are thinking 'outside
the square' and pulling all the stops when it comes to ingenious marketing
campaigns.
Take PKR.com's latest poker advertising campaign as an example. The popular
online poker room is taking its brand name skywards by getting a helicopter to
fly a giant banner across the skies of the United Kingdom with the words "Poker
Excitement" emblazoned on it.
Working with Helicopter Overcity Banner Systems, a local London company,
PKR.com commissioned a banner three quarter the size of a football pitch to be
trailed behind a helicopter this week. The 25 000 square foot banner will be
viewed by literally millions of Londoners and the campaign will be timed to
coincide with major sporting events in the capital
Simon Prodger, PKR.com's marketing manager said: "It's a pretty awe-inspiring
spectacle, and one that no one expects to see. We've had reports of sightings
from all over London, and people have even been sending in their own camera
phone images of the big banner."
The next poker advertising fly-over is due to take place on April 26th during
the Manchester United versus Chelsea Premiership match, and can be viewed from
the Stamford Bridge and central London areas.
PKR.com, described as "the future of online poker" because of its awesome
three-dimensional graphics and features, is offering players great bonuses and
promotions, including satellite qualifiers for major tournaments.
