August 2 - Tiltware LLC, the high-end online poker software firm that powers
Full Tilt Poker, is
relocating its headquarters to Dublin, Ireland from the United States.
The move is a direct result of the current uncertainty surrounding the
illegality of online gambling and online gambling operations in the States.
While Tiltware is not involved in the running or operation of online
poker sites, its core business as an online poker software developer may still
be considered illegal.
The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed the Internet Gambling
Prohibition and Enforcement Act which in effect supports the tightening of
online gambling restrictions in the country.
To send a strong message to the online gambling fraternity, two weeks ago the
U.S. government arrested BetonSports, Plc. chief executive (at the time), David
Carruthers and other key staff members of the popular online sports book, under
fraud and racketeering charges for accepting online sports bets from U.S
citizens.
The Tiltware move is set to create up to 200 new jobs in Dublin, with 30
American employees relocating to Dublin.
