Online Poker Tournament Offers $1.7 Million Prize Pool
|
March 26 - The Poker Stars guaranteed poker tournament held every Sunday continues to dwarf everything else in the online poker landscape, offering a phenomenal amount of money on a weekly basis.
Yesterday's event topped the $1.7 million mark for the total prize pool, making it the second-biggest online tournament for 2007 (the biggest was also a recent Sunday tournament on Stars where the poker room added an extra $500,000 to celebrate the anniversary of these monster tourneys).
The buy in for yesterday's event was a steep $1,000 +$50 but Stars offered numerous satellite events that enabled hundreds of entrants to win their seats for a fraction of the price (and in some instances at no cost at all thanks to all the freerolls). That didn't stop 1,712 entrants from taking their shot at a six figure payday and ultimately 225 players cashed in.
First prize was a whopping $353,000 and change but the last two players left standing agreed to a 50/50 split with $50,000 extra for the winner. That means 'fouruhaters' walked away with $291,472.80 when all was said and done.
If you are a serious no-limit hold'em tournament player then chances are you're already playing at these weekly spectacles where fortunes are made every Sunday.
