The terms overpair and overcards are both common in community poker games. Basically, an overpair is a pocket pair that is of a higher value than any of the community cards on the table. If the board reads: 3-6-9-5 and you hold pocket Jacks you are said to have an overpair.
Overcards have a more tenuous value, but players will often treat them as though they are as valuable as an overpair. AK is the poster-child hand for overcards, so that even when the flop comes all rags it becomes tough to throw the hand away (for some) because of the possibilities of making a high pair down the line.
