September 13 - The organizer of a series of exhibition soccer matches in Norway has
been reported to local authorities for having the logo of online poker room, PartyPoker.com,
printed on the players' soccer shirts.
Norway's lottery and gambling regulatory agency reported the organizer to local police
because the players, including Brazilian great Diego Maradona, wore uniforms advertising
PartyPoker.com.
The advertising of gambling companies is illegal in Norway.
The
PartyPoker.com branded teams played matches in Oslo and Bergen even though the organizers
were pre-warned about the law.
According to Norwegian Gaming and Foundation Authority spokesperson,
Rune Timberlid, the police were expected to take the violation seriously because
it was such a blatant violation of the law.
