Phil Ivey Wins Back-To-Back Poker Tournaments In Monte Carlo!
|
Phil Ivey confirmed that he is the best poker player in the world today with two poker tournament wins in two days. The events, both held in Monte Carlo, earned Ivey $1.6 million as he won the Monte Carlo Millions on Wednesday and followed that up with victory in the Full Tilt Poker invitiational tournament on Thanksgiving Thursday.
In the Monte Carlo Millions, Ivey beat out the other 110 entrants and boosted his poker tournament earnings for 2005 to over $2.7 million. That's a remarkable accomplishment when one considers that tournaments are a sideline for Ivey, who concentrates mainly on cash games. He is thought to be the best young cash game player in the world, and the natural heir to the title of best all-round poker player.
The very next day Ivey beat six famous poker pros in a "private" tournament where each player put up $120,000 of their own money, and Full Tilt Poker added $160,000 to boost the prize pool to an even $1 million.
The other players were Mike Matusow, Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott, Phil Hellmuth, John Juwanda, who finished second to Ivey, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, and Gus Hansen.
You can now challenge Phil Ivey and pit your poker skills against his, by playing him online at Full Tilt Poker.
