May 20 - PKR, one of the most innovative and successful poker rooms of
all time, has come up with another great concept. Riding on the wave of success
of televised poker events, the site has decided to broadcast footage from two of
its weekly tournaments on a nightly basis to viewers in Europe.
PKR plans to introduce almost fifteen million homes to in-game footage
captured in the $60 buy in $20,000 Guaranteed TV Showdown held every Saturday,
and the $100 buy in $10,000 Guaranteed Tournament that runs on Thursdays at the
site.
Players wanting to take part in these events, and have their moment of fame
on subsequent television coverage, can qualify via satellite for a mere $2, or
buy-in direct.
PKR, recently voted the most popular poker site in the UK according to the
intelligence service, Hitwise, will allow television viewers to enjoy a
particularly enjoyable and entertaining poker program, thanks to its amazing
trade-mark three dimensional graphics, its range of realistic emotes and
customizable avatars that make this site so popular.
PKR's marketing director, Simon Prodger said: "The chance to play poker on TV
was traditionally the reserve of well bankrolled pros, but our televised
tournaments now give players of all levels the chance to play in front of
audiences across all of Europe."
Analysis of the new television program will be given by PKR's podcast team -
Colin Morris, Dan "Danski" Grant and James "Jabbawa" Bach.
Homes in several European countries, including Iceland, Malta, the
Netherlands, Belgium, France and the United Kingdom will be able to enjoy the
tournament footage through a number of channels. PKR's You Tube TV channel will
also be broadcasting the games.
