Poker Nations Cup Won By Great Britain
|
The Poker Nations Cup was held last week in Cardiff, Wales and was won by Great Britain. The United States poker team, which included Thomas Keller, Robert Williamson III, Andy Bloch, Kathy Liebert, and Connie Glowen finished 4th. This looks like the Full Tilt Poker second-stringers, and they were no match for Great Britain, led by Tony Bloom.
Teams also competed from Germany, Ireland, Sweden, and Denmark. The tournament was played in an unusual format: six-handed freeze out tournaments with points awarded to players based on their final position at their table.
The event was apparently a big success, enjoyed by the poker players and viewers alike (it will be televised in Europe), and although it has a gimmicky feel to it one feels that it can't be bad for the game of poker overall.
