August
23 - Over 200 intrepid male and female poker players from 12 countries
bared all recently at the inaugural World Strip Poker Championships in London.
The World Strip Poker Championship, the brainchild of Irish bookmaker, Paddy
Power, was hosted at London's auspicious Cafe Royal where the order of the day
was to 'bluff in the buff'.
With
a first prize of £10 000 and 'Gold Fig Leaf' trophy on offer, each player
started play wearing five items of clothing supplied by the organizers, and were
given a towel to protect their modesty once completely naked.
Eventually John Young, a 32-year-old freelance writer from the English town of
Slough, walked away the first ever World Strip Poker Champion after a grueling
eight hours of poker.
This is probably the first time in history that 199 poker players
literally 'lost their shirts' playing poker!
