Poker Stars WCOOP Starts Off With A Bang - 09-12-08

September 12 - The 2008 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) event started off with a terrific bang this week as Calvin32 managed to conquer a field of over 7,500 players and win the first two day event of the competition.
For his efforts in Event Six, Calvin32 walked away with a prize of $452,086 after beating the biggest field of players seen at the event this far.
To enter this exciting competition, the thousands of players were requested to pay a buy in fee of $530. This amount, multiplied by the record number of players, saw a prize pool of $3,675,500 up for grabs.
The top 72 players in this round of the WCOOP event moved on to a second day of playing, while prizes were distributed to the first 1080 players in the two day event. The top 15 players managed to turn their initial buy ins into magnificent prizes of $10,000.
The final table of Event Six looked like a meeting of United Nations representatives, with no less than five nationalities vying for the top prize. Calvin32 hails from the United States, while other nationalities present at the table included Russia, the Netherlands, Canada and Denmark. Others who finished in the top 20 also came from Belarus, Sweden, Germany and the Ukraine.
