December 5 - All registered players on Spanish online poker room
CaraDePoker.com, were told last week that their accounts will be moved to
PokerStars.com, after Poker Stars acquired the iPoker website.
The move by Poker Stars to purchase CaraDePoker was made ahead of new
gambling legislation that is set to come into effect in Spain next year.
The deregulated Spanish market is the perfect platform for Poker Stars to
expand into Europe, especially considering its woes in the United States, which
it why it acquired the popular Spanish online poker room.
An announcement was made to the players on the CaraDePoker.com website that
their accounts (including all VIP points and existing funds), would be moved
over to PokerStars.com, one of the world's premier online poker rooms.
All points that were earned at Cara De Poker will be converted into
PokerStars Frequent Player Points. Plus, all prospective CaraDePoker players are
being informed that the site is currently being moved onto the PokerStars
platform.
According to the site, new sign ups to PokerStars.com will be given VIP level
on its Platinum Star based on previous rakes generated.
The site posted a statement, saying that from 2012, only license holders will
be allowed to offer poker games and tournaments to Spanish players, thereby
"significantly reducing the number of games available."
"Only the largest room in the world and in Spain will be able to offer the
number of cash tables and tournaments needed to provide a superior experience,"
read the statement. "We believe that the gaming experience you get at
PokerStars.com is infinitely superior to any other offer on the market and the
best legacy we can give you."
CaraDePoker.com Top Spanish Poker Room
CaraDePoker.com moved from the Entraction Poker Network to the iPoker Network
around 18 months ago, and is a hugely popular among Spanish online poker
players, with management focusing on the local market.
Recently, CaraDePoker.com affiliated itself with the Spanish language poker
training service at the EducaPoker.com site, boosting its members list
significantly.
Poker Stars also recently stepped further into the Italian poker market by
launching its first mobile poker app to Italy's iTunes store.
The new application, which is only available to Italian players, can be
downloaded for free. The app provides players with access to cash games,
tournaments, multi table options, and a wide variety of poker games, including
Texas Hold 'em, Omaha Hi Lo and more.
In 2009, Poker Stars purchased Cecure Gaming, which helped design the new app
and get it ready to launch in the local Italian poker market.
