July 20 - With the internet world becoming more streamlined with every
passing year, it comes as no surprise that markets look for ways to merge in
order to allow their users to enjoy the ultimate in convenience.
PokerStars online poker room has decided to tap into the lifestyle of
Generation Z and merge internet poker with social networking.
The site is in the process of introducing a social networking feature that
will allow its players to post their hand results and histories directly onto
their social networking pages such as Facebook and Twitter. This will be done
with a click of their mouse, allowing them to share their online poker game
sessions with friends and fellow poker players.
According to a statement on the poker site, the new feature is still not up
and running. "We are adding the ability to post your hands directly to your
Facebook and Twitter accounts," reads the statement. "This feature will be
accessible via a small star in the chat area. The feature will initially be
turned off until we finalize the testing, and then we will turn it on."
Who will use the new social networking service?
It is believed that the new feature will be used by PokerStars
pros as well as amateur players. Pros regularly tweet their tournament results
to their fans, bragging about their fantastic hands or winnings. Now, they'll
be able to do the bragging in one click. Amateurs, too, will be able to share
their victories with their friends via Facebook and Twitter.
PokerStars isn't the first
online poker room to introduce this
feature. Chili Poker did something similar a number of months ago, and it seems
that PokerStars recognized a good thing when it saw it and decided to borrow the
idea.
