Record Breaking Week for Online Poker at PokerStars
|
January 8 - The independent statistical information poker site, Pokerscoutsite.com, reported that the week before New Year's was a particularly good one for the industry leading PokerStars. According to Pokerscoutsite.com, PokerStars broke a number of online poker records in one single week, placing it firmly at the top of the list of top poker sites, vying for first place only with Full Tilt Poker.
The information site said that the most publicized record smashed by PokerStars was undoubtedly for its Largest Online Tournament, which made the Guinness Book of Records and saw 35,000 online players descend on the site simultaneously for one single tournament.
However, that was not the only record broken by PokerStars in the same week. Pokerscoutsite.com said that records were smashed in the sections 'Largest Sit and Go Tournament' (10,000 players), Most Simultaneous Real Money Cash Game Players (36,981 players) and Most Players Logged In (250,540 players), to name just a few.
Despite the strain on its platform due to more and more records being broken on a continuous basis, PokerStars seems to be dealing very well with the challenge. Only twice during the past few weeks have new players been stopped from joining new tables, and then only for very brief periods at a time.
Weekly positions remained generally unchanged on the Pokerscoutsite.com list of top poker sites.
The information provided by the statistical site overrides any suggestion that the popularity of online poker is declining on a global scale.
