December 2 - It must be something in the air as record after record gets broken in the world of online poker.
The latest feat to be recorded happened on Saturday when the Russian online poker player, innerpsy broke the record for playing the most number of poker hands in a 24 hour time period.
According to PokerStars, the player spent 18 hours and 33 minutes playing hand after hand of poker and by the end of this eye popping session, he had logged in an incredible 40,088 hands!
"Before this challenge, I had never actually played more than 20,000 hands in a day before," said innerpsy, "but the idea came up and I just figured I could do it. It was one of the toughest things I have ever accomplished, but I am proud I managed it."
The challenge was hosted by the Russian forum Card Game Masters who said that innerpsy has been playing "for a couple of years".
The 22 year old has now set a new benchmark for speed and pure endurance with his new record.
"I gained a lot of experience doing this and will definitely try it again in order to improve upon my result," said the tired player. "One of my goals is to also to reach Supernova Elite status."
The event was watched by over 10,000 online poker fans and commentary was provided by poker pro Max Lykov.
Setting new records is not a strange concept to Poker Stars.
Earlier this month, Poker Stars announced that it had recorded a staggering 317,000 players at one time at its site. This took place after the casino site guaranteed a $2.5 million prize pool on November 15th for its weekly Sunday Million event.
