Texas Hold 'em poker guides beginners through a playing process that can be learned in a couple of minutes and have players new to the game of poker playing pretty well after only a couple of hours of practice .. and fun hours at that! Texas Hold'em Poker Game : Basic Example :

• Betting structures for games vary.  Most games start with 2 players to the left of the dealer, placing out a pre-determined amount of money or bet, so that there is an initial amount to start things up.  This is known as posting the blinds. • The dealer will shuffle up a complete deck of 52 playing cards.

• Each player is dealt 2 cards, face down. These are called a players' hole or pocket cards

• Thereafter a round of betting starts, with the player to the left of the 2 who posted the blinds. This round is commonly referred to by the term pre-flop. The amount betted depends on the game being played. (Click here : Betting Structures)  

• Players can check, raise, or fold. Once the betting round ends, the dealer discards the top card of the deck or the burn card, and this done to prevent cheating. 

• The dealer flips the next 3 cards face up on the table - these cards are called the flop, and are communal cards that any player can use along with their 2 pocket cards to form a poker hand. 

• Thereafter another round of betting, starting with the player to the left of the dealer, begins.

• Once this betting round has concluded, the dealer burns another card and flips 1 more card onto the table - this is the turn card, and players can use this 6th card now to form a 5 card poker hand.

• The player to the left of the dealer the starts another round of betting, and it is here ,where in many types of games, the bet size doubles.

• Finally, the dealer burns a card and places the final card - the river, face up on the table. The players can now use any of the 5 cards on the table, or the 2 cards in their pocket, to form a 5 card poker hand.

• 1 Final round of betting takes place, beginning with the player to the left of the dealer.

• Thereafter, the remaining players (those that have not folded) begin to reveal their hands - starting with the player to the left of the last player to call. This is called the showdown.

• The player showing the best hand, is the winner!  Where players have equal hands, the winnings will be shared.
