The Poker Players Behind The Insider
|
It is true what they say - opposites attract. Cut from different cloth, born and
raised out of fundamentally different backgrounds, we are two individuals that
share a surprising number of common interests, and surprise surprise, poker is
one of them! About a year ago we started toying with the idea of launching a
poker site together and it took about six months to get this thing off the
ground. Voila, we bring you Online Poker Insider! As past work colleagues, in
the gambling industry no less, we know what we will disagree about up-front, but
more importantly we know each other's strengths, so we'll cut through the crap
quickly and bring you a solid poker site where you can learn and share some valuable insights into the crazy world of poker.
ABOUT MARC
A Brief Bio
Marc has worked in the online gambling industry since July, 2000. He has built
and operated various gambling websites over the last five years. He has also
played poker for a number of years, and over the past two years he has played on a professional basis in medium-stakes cash games and in tournaments around the world. He has won several large online poker tournaments, and recently won a no-limit tournament at the Bellagio. His extensive experience as an online poker player and his knowledge of poker theory and strategy make his observations about the game invaulable to players of all skill levels.
Ryan on Marc
I refuse to play poker against him, full stop. Marc is fully responsible for the
scar I carry where the poker bug bit me. It happened where else but in Vegas,
when he encouraged me to make a fool of myself at the Bellagio (which I
continued to do until 7am the next morning, and the next night, and the next
night...). It is now his full responsibility to make sure I am not out there to
make donations to everyone else, but become a better player! Marc is clinical,
which you will see in his writing, and it is even more evident in his poker
play. I recently watched him crush two WSOP bracelet holders at the Bellagio in
a big No Limit tournament and it was evident that most players were struggling
to get a read on him. Oh, and he's a natty dresser and he can hold his drink
pretty well too! :)
ABOUT RYAN
A Brief Bio
Ryan has worked in the online gambling industry for the last five years and has
been involved in development of gambling software, gambling operations and
online casino support. He can therefore spot bullshit from an online poker room
very quickly. Stupid promotions, bad service and any silly tricks will get
exposed quickly. Simply put, it's his job to make sure that we don't promote
crap, and that any issues one of our referred players may have get sorted out
pronto.
Marc on Ryan
It takes most novice poker players an entire year of playing and losing real
money before they start to improve the gigantic holes in their game. It took
Ryan less than a month and he's already so far ahead of the curve that he's
winning tournaments I wouldn't have thought to enter when I first started
playing. The reasons are simple: he understands that poker is complex, and that
to improve he needs to read a lot, play a lot, and never think that he knows
enough. He's smart when it comes to poker. He respects the game and picks up
advanced poker concepts with ease. Come to think of it he's smart about a lot of
things, but he's never arrogant with it. He's well on his way to becoming a very
good poker player.
