March 16 -
Ultimate Bet online
poker room, or UB.com as it is now
known in the industry, announced that it would not be holding the Aruba Poker
Classic this year.
The Aruba classic is a popular land based poker tournament that attracted
nearly 500 players last year.
The 2009 winner was Brandon Hall who took home just over $750K in the $5000
No Limit Hold 'em poker event.
"It is with great regret that we are announcing that that Aruba event will
not run this year, but 2010 is going to be an exciting year for UB and its
players," said Paul Leggett, the Chief Operations Officer of Tokwiro, the group
that owns UB.com.
Leggett continued: "Over the last year, we've been redefining the UB brand in
every way. We love the Aruba Poker Classic event, but we think we can do a lot
more for our players by investing in new events and rewards."
In the meantime, online poker players can look forward to a host of great
tournaments and promotions that UB.com has planned for them.
"I, for one, am excited about what this shift in focus means for UB and what
this will add to the experience of our players," said professional player, Joe
Sebok who is part of Team UB.
2010 will see the introduction of a monthly $500,000 guaranteed tournament
which may very well become a $1 million event.
The site will also continue to bring players a very good chance of gaining
entry into top international land based poker tournaments, including the World
Poker Tour and the World Series of Poker.
