November 6 - UK and Irish poker players are jumping with glee at the news
that PokerStars online poker room has decided to expand its live
tournament activities by introducing the UK and Ireland Poker Tour.
The inaugural poker tour will kick off next month with the Irish Poker
Championships and continue with a number of great poker tournaments in hot spots
across the UK and Ireland.
The tour will culminate around ten months later in London with the EPT London
event.
The average buy in rate at these events is £500 - 1000, although players
can earn their entry into the competitions through satellites on the PokerStars
site starting at just 0.25c!
The schedule for the UK and Irish Pour tour is as follows:
- Galway, Radisson Hotel, December 11-14, €2000
- Manchester, G Casino, February 11 - 14, £500 + 50
- Conventry, G Casino, April 8 - 11, £500 + 50
- Nottingham, Dusk Till Dawn, May 13-16, £500 + 50
- Killarney, Gleneagle Hotel, June 24-27, £1000 + 100
- Brighton, Rendezvous Casino, July 15-18, £1000 + 100
- Scotland - To be confirmed
- Dublin, Burlington Hotel, September 9-12, £1000 + 100
- London, Metropole Hotel, October 2-8, £5000 + 300
"This is an incredibly exciting addition to the range of PokerStars live
events," noted Team PokerStars Pro, Vicky Coren. "Here is our very own British
and Irish tour, nicely accessible for those who can't travel abroad very often
or save their foreign travel for larger international events."
"The buy ins are great," added Coren. "Big enough to make chunky prize pools,
not so big that they're a huge drain on resources. It's about time there was a
serious respected tournament with a £500 buy in, like the new ones in
Manchester, Coventry and Nottingham."
