July 3 - History is being made as The
Vegas Open tournament becomes the
first-ever poker event to be broadcast in high definition television.
The Vegas Open is being televised on cable station, INHD as part of a 13-episode
series captured from the new 14 500 square foot poker room at Caesars Palace
Casino in Las Vegas.
The Vegas Open is made up of 10 separate tournaments open to the public, each
requiring a $1060.00 buy-in. The winner of each tournament will be rewarded with
a spot in a semi-final heads-up match.
The final five heads-up winners will then advance to the final table of the
Vegas Open, where they will battle it out for the winner-take-all $100 000 first
prize.
The Vegas Open is the 'brain child' of the National Poker League, which is
seeking to give 'poker players with lots of skill and a smaller bankroll' the
opportunity to become poker television stars.
As the inaugural event, The Vegas Open is cited as being the first of a series
of international poker tournaments spearheaded by the National Poker League.
Hosted by poker pros Oliver Nejad and Scott Fischman, The Vegas Open series
kicks off at 10:30 pm tonight on INHD, and will run throughout the summer.
