Why it is Literally Safer to Play Poker Online
|
February 7 - On July 7th 2005 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Harold
Hoskins 'high' on drugs and alcohol and on a poker losing streak, pointed a
loaded gun at fellow poker player, Donnie Evans, and pulled the trigger.
Luckily for Evans, the gun misfired and he lived to testify against Hoskins at
his trial. This week Hoskins was found guilty by a jury of his peers on two
counts of attempted homicide and robbery, as well as possession of crack cocaine
and an illegal firearm.
Witnesses at the trial recounted how on the night of July 7th, 2005, during
a poker match at a known 'crack house', Hoskins lost all of his money and left
the house in a hurry. He returned shortly afterwards with a gun that he put against the
head of Donnie Evans and pulled the trigger - twice.
Experts at the trial testified that Hoskins had loaded the two shot gun with the
wrong type of bullets explaining why it misfired, saving Evans' life.
Many people prefer the safety, security and privacy of playing poker online
rather than having to risk traveling to poker games or playing at casinos.
