World Poker Classic Kicks off in Vegas
|
April 10 - The 2007 Five Star World Poker Classic kicked off this weekend at the
luxurious Bellagio hotel and casino in Las Vegas, with results in for two of the
12 side tournaments to be played.
The top five places in the first event - $1500 No-Limit Texas Hold'em - were snatched
by Motoyuki Mabuchi who won $873 000 in first place, second Mohamed Ahmedin who
won $436 546, third Allen Baker who won $282 000, fourth Randy L McKay who won
$235 000 and fifth Sam Lewis who won $174 600.
The top five for the second event - $2000 No-Limit Texas Hold'em - included
first place Paul Lee who won $206 795, second Champie Douglas who won ?325 000,
third Tommy Hang who won $55 990, fourth Tu Huynh who won $31 990 and fifth Sam
Lewis who won $23 995.
After the 5th Annual Five Star World Poker Classic, there is everything to play
for as the best professional poker players look forward to the World Poker Tour
(WPT) Championship in just a few weeks, with its hefty $25 000 buy-in.
Last year's WPT Championship saw just over 600 players enter, with Joe Bartholdi
Jr emerging victorious and over $3 760 000 richer in front of second place
finisher David
Matthew and third place finisher Roland De Wolfe.
