WPT Casino and Poker Room Shuts Down
|
November 20 - Players who enjoy the poker games at WPT's online poker room should take note that, as from today, the site is shutting down its operations. This is in line with a decision taken by World Poker Tour Enterprises regarding the future of the poker room last month. At the time, the Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of WPT cited "disappointing returns" as the main reason for the site's closure.
Earlier this week, WPT online poker players were sent an email stating that "the World Poker Tour wants to make certain that you get access to the best online poker available. To make this happen, we have arranged for some great deals with our partners at InterPoker. InterPoker is one of the best established and most trusted poker rooms online today."
To encourage players to shift their accounts to InterPoker, WPT outlines a unique promotion at this site, which includes a Flip Ultra Camcorder and a bonus of up to $500.
WPT noted that its online players would not be automatically transferred to InterPoker's customer database, and would need to open a new account at the site.
Players were informed that they would need to withdraw all their funds by today, while any outstanding balances would be sent to them via credit card or alternative methods such as Moneybookers.
It should also be noted that WPT's other online poker site, its subscription based ClubWPT remains unaffected by these decisions and is continuing its operations as usual.
